Frequently Asked Questions
For example, a person who is often impulsive becomes deeply aware of what triggers their impulsivity, the thoughts and feelings they have at such moments and the behaviour it triggers in them and off course the results of those behaviours.
The next thing coaching helps the person do, is define the thoughts, feelings and behaviours they wish to have. For example they may wish to think clearly, feel calm and confident and replace impulsive behaviours with less reactive behaviours and more sustainable and positive ones.
The last step of coaching is to help the person look for simple, realistic and effective ways to get from where they are to where they would like to go. In our example they would want to avoid their trigger situations that spark impulsivity but also focus on their strengths, enjoy calming activities, connect with their true selves and slowly over time replace reactivity and impulsivity with being the people they want to be and practicing positive and sustainable behaviours over and over again.
Coaching helps identify the challenging behaviours and how they show up as well as the strengths of the person and the positive behaviours that they can replace behaviours that are not serving them well, with.
